Time for some new music. I do kind of need a piss again, this may have to be the last one as my MacBook battery is getting a little low. Another new Lamb Of God single, huh? Damnit I love heavy metal the way these guys do it As I’ve said about Lamb Of God to many of my friends, while they may not do anything new they do it perfectly. Seriously, listen to this.

If that doesn’t make you say “damn! That’s some good metal!” I can’t help you. Either that or you don’t like metal. In that case I really can’t do anything for you. The only problem with this song is it isn’t actually fostering any creativity beyond sitting here thinking “Yeah! Metal! Fuck yeah!” So as soon as it’s done it’s back to some more relaxed stuff.

As it turns out it’s time to get going so it’s nothing be the ambience of a Pret to keep my ears company. Hope you’e enjoyed these and I’ll try and do them again!

Right, Spotify has taken me onwards. I’m listening to a new Steven Wilson track. I woke up yesterday with a strong urge to move to Canada with my friend Daniel Brand who has been out there coming up on a year now. I know my girlfriend has also expressed an interest in this path. I’m not sure why, but lately I’ve really gone off English culture. Most of the things I consume in terms of entertainment seem to be American in origin. All of the podcasts I listen to are American and as I tend to only watch Pro-Wrestling I’m on the American side of things there. I’ve even been watching a little American Football. I’m not sure if it’s for me, while I enjoy the tactics of getting up field and the thrill of watching someone get through a defensive line, I’m really not sure if I can get into how start and stop it is. It might be a little too much. Still, I can NEVER get into English football. I have way too many stigmas attached to all sorts of sports over here. It all seems fancy and exciting over in AmericanLand. Maybe it’s just fatigue at everything over here, or the fact that I personally don’t feel massively represented in pop culture. However, there are people out there in America like Joe Rogan who have changed the way I think about the world and make me strive to be a better person. I can’t think of a single English figure out there at the moment that does that for me. While there are aspects of the UK I still love, the weather (I’m much of a gloomy winter person who loves the country side than a warm day kinda guy) and the food here. It just feels like there is a brand of being English that hasn’t been put out there. Don’t get me wrong, there is a lot of America I can’t get behind either, it just feels like a strange promised land. Canada is the same, my best friend is having an amazing time out there and over here just seems to be alienating me. I turn on the TV and it just makes me angry, miserable or fed up. Even the UK comedy scene doesn’t interest me as much any more. It doesn’t feel like anyone I can connect with is about. When I was younger I wanted to be a part of it so much, be friends with all these amazing people and create British comedy which in my mind was the best in the world. Nowadays though, I’m not so sure. I feel like I wouldn’t want to be a part of that clique of old rich people who think being absurd also involves a feeling of superiority. Likeing Monty Python doesn’t also mean you’re clever. I can’t abide people thinking they are clever and important. If there is one thing I’ve been trying to think it’s that I’m stupid, that I really have no idea what is going on at any time. I don’t always actively think this, but I at least try. I think Ian Hislop can sum up everything I’m trying to describe when it comes to self importance and looking down on others. Anyway, time for another break. Glad we solved that one, huh?
